Rebecca Wara-Goss, LMFT, PhD(c)

Who I Am As a Therapist:

As a psychotherapist, I enjoy working with a variety of individuals, couples, and families. My approach is to create a safe and supportive environment, in addition to creating a therapeutic space where potential for healing, growth and self-transformations are possible through acceptance, warmth, respect, and collaborative participation with your treatment goals.

I am passionate about spiritual development, holistic (i.e. balancing mind-body-spirit) health and well-being, and self-transcendence to become one’s highest potential in their lifetime, in addition to utilizing the powerful healing potential of the human-animal bond in psychotherapy. My three favorite things include horses, superhero films, and helping others.

I look forward to the possibility of meeting you, your family, and/or partner, and working with you to assist in the process of reducing impacts of life stressors and increasing your sense of well-being and life mastery.

Clinical Training and Education:

As a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I am trained to work with children, adolescents, families, and couples. My clinical training includes a variety of approaches, such as transpersonal psychology, humanistic and client-centered psychology, somatic and holistic psychology, psychosynthesis, expressive arts and play therapy, equine-facilitated psychotherapy and animal-assisted psychotherapy; and evidence-based practices such as in-patient psychiatric crisis stabilization; suicide prevention and self-harm reduction; cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), solution-focused and strengths based psychotherapies, Seeking Safety, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and Collaborative Problem Solving.

Currently, I am pursuing a doctorate in East-West Psychology at the California Institute of Integral Studies with my focus on EFP treatment for female veterans with military-related posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). In addition to my Ph.D. research, my education experiences include a B.A. in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration at Humboldt State University in 2008, and in 2012 received an M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Sofia University (formerly known as the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology).
