Who I am as a Therapist

Therapy is a very personal and unique process. Identifying your desired outcomes and needs will help guide our therapeutic relationship. Talk therapy, body-centered and goal-related activities are all options in our work. I tend to be light-hearted and curious. I offer gentle yet focused reflections to encourage change toward your goals. While taking your goals seriously, I also believe humor has a place in therapy; sometimes it can be vital. I hold the utmost respect for your life experiences, values, and expertise. I believe, oftentimes, you already have the internal wisdom about your struggles, including experiences of societal oppression. My job can be to walk beside you, also lead when necessary, and apply our mutual wisdom to help you feel better and achieve your goals. I can help guide you in unfamiliar (or all too familiar) territory to help you experience the best within your personal relationships. My practice currently offers therapy for individuals and relationships. I welcome a variety of relationship types in my practice, including monogamous, ethically non-monogamous, queer, straight, kink, etc. Although I have extensive experience working with children and families, I am not taking new child and family therapy clients at this time.

I engage in continuing education and professional development to feed my life-long desire for learning, serve my clients with up-to-date therapy skills, and meet ongoing licensing requirements. I focus much of my continued education to be in service of LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC clients and their communities. I follow WPATH Standards of Care to best serve my clients who are transgender, nonbinary, and gender diverse people, including engagement in advocacy and medical letter writing for gender-affirming services and care, if desired. I hold a commitment to maintaining antiracism in my daily life and work, which can look like centralizing the experiences and needs of my clients of color, and decentralizing the white experience, including my own. And yes, that is probably a pretty white thing to say, I know. : )

I look forward to joining with you in the therapeutic process.

Who I am when I’m not a Therapist

Wondering about me outside the therapy room? My soul craves the sun. I feel most nurtured and content when the sun is shining. I am an Oregonian from birth and thus have found other ways to find peace, joy, and rejuvenation when the sun is tucked away. I love to garden, cook, and generally spend time in nature, especially with my spouse and child. Being in tune with nature and my environment helps me to be more in tune with myself. As my client, I may encourage you to be aware of your sensory experiences to help uplift you, center you, and provide an outlet for growth and release.
