Who I am as a Therapist

The process of therapy is as unique and nuanced as the stories of each of our lives. Who we are and who we might discover ourselves to be are at the center of each therapeutic journey. I tailor my therapeutic approach to fit your unique story, the specific challenges you come in with, and the goals you seek to reach. I offer a space free from judgment where you can speak openly, unhampered by social mores and conventional expectations.

I received my doctorate in psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco, California, and am a licensed psychologist in Oregon. I have extensive experience in the practice of psychodynamic therapy, which includes psychoanalysis and Jungian psychotherapy. I also draw from existential and behavioral approaches to therapy. My training and experience are broad and allow me to work with a wide array of problems. Some of my areas of expertise include but are not limited to young adulthood, anxiety, depression, relationship and marital issues, men’s issues, loneliness and alienation, and personal development.

“It’s all right if you grow your wings on the way down.”

– Robert Bly

Who I am when I’m not a Therapist

I am a Portland native who has more recently returned home. I have a previous career as a musician and remain actively involved in the creation of music today. I am thoroughly interested in the arts and how creativity can be used to make meaning from confusing or misunderstood experiences, bring joy and excitement to life, and provide a relaxing respite from everyday stress. When I’m not using my free time to play music I can be found enjoying the unbridled nature of the Pacific Northwest.
