Who I am as a Therapist

We all experience mental and emotional pain at times. Pain appears when we lack safety, security, support—when there is loss or when we perceive we are not able to live the life we desire. Sometimes this is short-lived, but sometimes has a lasting impact on us, leaving us feeling stuck and triggered no matter what we do. We can learn how to heal and overcome this pain. In order to have the most comprehensive healing, we have to treat the root of an issue, not just the symptom. Therefore, I work to understand your unique story and how you have come to be in the place you are. I believe each person is doing their best with where they are and respect that place in each individual journey. We will work together to help you get what you want from therapy. This may be reducing overwhelming emotions, gaining new skills, perspectives, or approaches to problems. It may be helping you put the past and its ongoing impacts, behind you. My goal is to help you heal and gain the internal tools and resources needed to live a more secure and rewarding life. I look forward to being a part of your path toward healing.

With over 15 years of clinical experience, I am skillful in providing traditional therapy as well as treating issues related to trauma. I am an EMDR Certified Therapist with specialized training in addressing both single-incident traumas or Complex-PTSD, where longer-acting systemic, interpersonal, or familial aversive experiences have had a negative impact.

I utilize a combination of therapies including, EMDR, Ego-state, Attachment Focused, Mindfulness-based approaches, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Clients experience me as sensitive, attuned, understanding, and insightful. My approach is also active and candid in that I offer each client concrete resources and tools to heal.
